It is inevitable, just listening to the name makes you want to go see it (and suffer it): Silk Market. A suggestive name that attracts, that invites to let the imagination fly to the old markets of fabrics, spices, jewels and ointments. Ok, let's stop dreaming, the Silk Market is nothing more than a gigantic warehouse with beastly quantities of products. The best thing is that there is not only silk. No way! There is everything, everything!

You could make a thesis, a report, a movie, a book of what is happening inside. Of how hustled are the sellers, who become the sweetest ruffian in the world or the most aggressive animal you've ever seen. Or how little hustlers, or poorly informed that we are the buyers. Of course, most likely in the end you will take it, and pay what you said as the last price. But will it be a good price? Probably not…

The sellers will laugh at your proposals, they will be offended, they will tell you that you are crazy and that for this price you will never get what you want. But in the end they sell it to you. Many times we have left the sites and when we were in the middle of the hall we listened to the magic words: OK, OK! They will never lose money with you. It is clear that it is not necessary to offend them either by saying for example that you are going to pay for this cool bag. If this is starting to seem like a nightmare, don't worry, at least there is no loud music like in the Bershka!

So we decided to write this post to give you some reference prices of things that we have bargained or bought in this market. These are the prices that we have taken, maybe someone has paid less, sure. But don't pay more for this! We also give you some tips to survive the Silk Market, we do not exaggerate!

TIPS FOR VISITING THE SILK MARKET AND DON'T DIE AT TRY 🙂

  1. A man we met there told us that rule number 1 of the silk market is that you NEVER have to pay for something more than 100 Y.
  2. What we have noticed in the market is that Chinese sellers respect Hindus and their compatriots much more, Westerners treat us worse, ridiculous and exaggerated prices drop us and the issue is that we saw many Westerners pay these prices !! So don't pay what they ask for!
  3. We love to haggle, we have a lot of fun but it is true that there you end up fed up and stressed ... you have to arm yourself with a lot of patience! The good thing is that as there are many sites, and they all sell practically the same, if in this position you can not get down to the price you want in the beach bar next door most likely.
  4. Souvenirs are better to buy on the street, or in other markets, here good business is done with the "brand" things.
  5. It is much easier to lower the price or get discounts if you buy more than one thing. So if you are a couple and want a couple of conversations, it is best to buy them together ... And now .... To buy!!!

We leave you our guide to know how to haggle to get the best prices in the silk market 🙂
